Hangable insect trap – Non-toxic solution for mosquitoes, flies and wasps

Have you also longed for summer evenings on the patio, picnics in the park or midsummer with the whole family? Unfortunately, summer doesn't come alone – it comes with buzzing, stinging and annoying insects.
For children, for those with sensitive skin or just to avoid disturbing the atmosphere, it's nice to be able to enjoy in peace.

This hangable insect trap offers a natural, simple and effective method for reducing the number of flying insects - without electricity, batteries or poison.

Unlike lights that only work in the dark or coils that smoke and smell, this trap is silent, odorless and active 24/7. It requires no chemicals, no noise and no electricity – just smart, natural operation.

The trap is also reusable and easy to clean.
Rinse it out between uses, refill with new bait – and it's ready to use again and again all summer.

Here's how it works:

  1. Fill the bait container at the bottom with something insects love – t.ex. sweet juice, fruit juice or meat broth (depending on which insects you want to catch).

  2. Hang the trap in a tree, on the balcony, by the tent or where insects usually bother you.

  3. Let the trap do the work – flies, wasps and mosquitoes are attracted to the bait, enter through the openings and get stuck in the net above.

  4. Empty and reuse when needed. Easy to clean and use again and again – season after season.

The trap is quiet, odorless and requires no maintenance. Perfect for those who want an effective solution without compromising on safety or the environment.

Advantages:

  • Suitable for the garden, camping, stables or outdoor dining areas

  • Completely non-toxic and safe for children, pets and the environment

  • Works day and night, regardless of the weather

  • Discreet design – does not affect the feel or aesthetics of the environment

  • Seasonal and cost-effective – no refills required beyond your own bait

Specifications:

  • Size: approx. 23 × 33 cm

  • Paint: Green with transparent bottom

  • Material: Plastic + mesh

  • Suspension hook: Included

  • Lure: Not included – use, for example, meat juice, syrup or fruit water depending on the target group

Protect your patio, children's playground or summer picnic - without chemicals, without hassle.
A small effort for you – a big step towards a calmer summer.

Homemade baits for our trap with bait container

Our trap is equipped with a special bait container – this means you can use homemade liquids to attract mosquitoes, flies and other insects without buying ready-made bait. Here we have collected our two best recipes for mosquitoes, and two for flies and general insect catching. Easy to mix, powerful in effect.

🦟 For mosquitoes – 2 strong home recipes

✅ 1. Classic yeast mixture (CO₂ bait)

Simulates human breathing – perfect for attracting biting midges that are looking for carbon dioxide.

You need:

  • 2 tablespoons sugar (brown or white)

  • 2 tablespoons warm water (about 40 °C)

  • 1/4 tsp dry yeast

Do this:

  1. Mix sugar and water in a cup until the sugar dissolves.

  2. Pour the mixture into the trap's bait container.

  3. Sprinkle in the yeast – do not stir.

  4. Place the container back in the trap and allow the yeast to begin producing CO₂.

🕒 Durable for 3–5 days.

✅ 2. Scent bait with ammonia & lactic acid (for outdoor use)

Imitates the scent of sweat and body odor – strong bait that works best outdoors.

You need:

  • 2 tablespoons sugar

  • 2 tablespoons lukewarm water

  • 1/4 tsp dry yeast

  • 1 teaspoon vinegar (12%) or lemon juice

  • 1 tsp sour milk or yogurt

  • 1 drop of ammonia solution (t.ex. Ammonia – available as a cleaning agent)

Do this:

  1. Mix sugar and water until the sugar dissolves.

  2. Stir in the yeast carefully.

  3. Add vinegar and yogurt.

  4. Finish with 1 drop of ammonia.

  5. Pour the mixture into the bait container and place the trap outdoors, about 3–5 meters from where you are staying.

🕒 Durable for 3–4 days.
⚠️ Do not use indoors. p.g.a. strong smell.

🪰 For flies and other insects – 2 home recipes

✅ 1. Apple cider vinegar + dish soap

Works against fruit flies, houseflies and other small insects.

You need:

  • 1 dl apple cider vinegar

  • 4–5 drops of dishwashing liquid

Do this:

  1. Pour the vinegar into the bait container.

  2. Add dishwashing detergent – it breaks the surface tension.

  3. Place the container in the trap.

🕒 Change the fluid every 3–4 days.
💡 Apple cider vinegar smells like fermenting fruit – very attractive to flies.

✅ 2. Overripe fruit pieces + vinegar (compost bait)

Attracts flies, wasps and other sweet-loving insects.

You need:

  • A few pieces of ripe banana or melon

  • 1 teaspoon vinegar

  • A little water

  • 2 drops of dish soap

Do this:

  1. Place the fruit in the bait container.

  2. Pour in water, vinegar and detergent.

  3. Seal and place in the trap.

🕒 Replace after 2–3 days.
💡 Great option if you have old fruit at home!

Tips for best effect:

  • Place the trap near windows, doors or shady corners.

  • Change the bait regularly to keep the effect strong.

  • Use the ammonia version outdoors – the scent is strong but effective.
